These two were all sorts of adorable. We had wanted to do an outdoor session, but realized a few weeks ago that the weather had already turned and we weren’t likely to get a decent weather day. Luckily, we had a permit for the Lincoln Park Conservatory.
As a note to future appointments, sessions can be held at the Lincoln Park Conservatory all year round as long as you ask me to apply for a permit within two weeks of your session date. Permits are $50 per hour.
Earlier today while mingling over the phone with a new client, I talked about how in the past I feared this age.
A one year old on the go has their own agenda and they’ll be darned if you get in the way of that. My fear was that I couldn’t manage that type of situation, but now I know that all I need to do is join in on the mischief to make good things happen.
Whenever I have a relatively new addition to the walking world as the subject of a session, I make it my mission to capture a shot like this. A toddler in mid-stride is ready to conquer … well, just about anything and that deserves photographic preservation like nothing else.
All week I’ve been featuring images of this lovely family of four. To wrap it up this is my favorite shot of them all together. Thank you S family for allowing me to be part of the family for a short while.
Kids grow up way too fast these days.
This gorgeous young lady plays big sister to the three previous adorable boys. Wow, I can not imagine.
This is us in the elevator on our way up to our hotel room in Rome. We were in Rome for one week in September. Of the 700 photos I took this is the first shot I gave my eyes the time to study.
Every couple knows it’s hard to get “together” shots when you are traveling. Heck, even when you’re not traveling. When you do get them, they’re extra special even if they are not particularly flattering. This one is just fun to look at. It’s such a classic moment for us. Me with my camera of course and my husband with his wallet open fishing for our room key. He’s always a step ahead.
We picked out three other shots to enlarge + frame, but I don’t think I’ll have time to get to the rest until after the New Year.
It hysterical to me that the picture below looks posed. As if I asked this 3 year old to put his face right up to these leaves and smile just right. Nothing this adorable is that easy.
What happened? We asked him to sit by the leaves. That simple request inspired him to lie belly down and gather them up into the pile you see in front of him. I think his smile is is a reflection of how proud he was for making the rest of us laugh.
There was so much energy in this little guy, but he used it all up early on in the session. Luckily, I still had his three siblings to photograph. I’ll be featuring his brother & sisters all this week. What a great family!
This was the second year I’ve worked with this family and I didn’t think it was possible, but I adore them now even more.
