It’s time for Family Pictures!

One simple phone conversation with this adorable mom and I knew I would want to blog pictures from their session. Yep, even before the photo shoot, even before I met them or visited the location. The location was her childhood home and that is the sweetest thing I could ever wish to photograph.

This portrait session was photographed in May. Since I haven’t had time to keep up with blogging, I was going to start fresh with new sessions going forward, but this session in particular could not be passed up.

When I was a kid the first place I’d go every morning was mom & dad’s bed. First thing. And when I got sick, I’d spend the entire day there. Dad would bring me soup. I’d watch cartoons. I would feel better just being there. I’m not the only one, am I?

So it makes sense that the first stop for almost any at home family portrait session is mom & dad’s room. Nothing deserves to be captured like the fun that takes place and by some miracle the light is always right!

Wide Awake + Fast Asleep

Newborns. Oh my. They melt my heart.

A newborn session often goes like this. A quarter of awake time and the rest of the time asleep and that is ok, because we couldn’t get shots like these without a little trip to dreamland.
