An Old Friend
I'm sure I've said this before, but watching kids grow up is one of the best aspects of my job. I'll say it again and again.

Wide Awake + Fast Asleep
Newborns. Oh my. They melt my heart.

A newborn session often goes like this. A quarter of awake time and the rest of the time asleep and that is ok, because we couldn't get shots like these without a little trip to dreamland.

Selecting Images for Display Together
One of my favorite tricks when selecting portraits for display together, for example in a frame with 2 - 5x7 slots, is to use one picture looking straight on and the other looking at the other picture.

This extra step of consideration adds a bit of drama and energy to an otherwise simple display.

Recent Work: One Year Old + Seeing
The latest buzzword for me at the moment is "seeing". Truly seeing.
It's so easy to find ourselves in a place where we stop paying attention. I call it robot mode. I'm sure you've been there. Driving home from the office and suddenly you are pulling into your driveway and you don't even remember how you got there.
This happens in photography all the time. Once we are able to capture a certain type of shot it's easy to lose sight of everything else and everything else is often where all the beauty lies.
There are gorgeous moments everywhere you just have to make time to see them. Here's to looking a little deeper in 2007!
Some recent "seeing":

Recent Work: One Year Old

With that leg up in the air, this will be forever known as the "I'm coming to get you" pose. I can't help but to giggle everytime I look at this shot.

Recent Work: One Year Old
Because of things going on in my personal life, there was a huge time shortage that left all my favorites from December sessions sitting, waiting, wishing, hoping to be shared. No worries, my plan is to get to those this week and then the following week I'll be back on some sort of sharing schedule.
There was no shortage of cuteness in this household.

Happy New Year from Dawn M Photography!
A bit late for a new year greeting, but at least it's not February.
If you've noticed that fresh! had gone stale more often recently you weren't alone. Thank you to everyone who checked in to see how I was.
The last few months have been a struggle for my family. Around the end of November my mom became extremely ill from severe complications of Multiple Sclerosis, a disease she has been fighting for over ten years. She's gone through so much and is now (finally!) in the comfort of our home. Her and my dad will be staying with us as we nurse her back to her new sense of normal. It will be a hard road, but I'm happy to say we will be together and hopefully stronger for it.
Understandably so I'm excited to get 2007 in full gear. I have some yummy things in store for DMP including at least two "mini session" dates that will allow several reduced time & priced sessions to be held at one location on the same day. Perfect for those who want to try out DMP for the first time or for those who just want a few pictures for holiday cards and such. The details are still in the works with a formal announcement and bookings set to be made sometime in March.
I'll continue to use this space to make such announcements as well as introduce everyone to old and new product offerings. As always, I'm interested in hearing from you if you desire products or services I currently do not have available.
