Photographs I take for nobody, but me. Since my daughter was born, she has occupied most if not all of spare photography time.Thursday / 1 May 2008
May Already
Can you believe it? Before we know it Summer will be here and then Fall and then ... I won't even say the "W" word. I'm still sick of the last one.
Yesterday I was bemoaning the fact the our magnolia which bloomed last week was already losing its flowers. They leave so soon. Then this morning I was pleasantly surprised by new blooms from our plum tree. This is what is so great about this time of year. Everything appears to be continually refreshed. It gives me an unheard amount of energy. Look out world!

Location Scouting
Went location scouting today for an upcoming high school senior portrait session. Very excited! I've had these spots in mind for a bit, but I've been holding them in my back pocket for the right session since they aren't necessarily toddler friendly.

Nearly forgot to mention my location scouting accomplices, Mr. Dawn M:

And, our little darling Mini Me (she already has two cameras, toys but still!):

Did you notice it's Spring?
Somewhere between late night feedings, frequent diaper changes, going back to work and thinking I couldn't take one more day of Winter, Spring sprung! Just in time too. I don't know about the rest of you, but I've been feeling cabin feverish for far too long.
The other day I took a few minutes to photograph some gifts from Spring in our backyard.

Same Day, Different Hat
This hat is from Carter's. Size? 12-24 Months. She's only 5 months here. We accidentally put the hat in the dryer and now it's a little snug on her big 5 month old head. I think we'll be able to stretch it out for when she's older, but I couldn't resist trying it on her now.
Happy Friday! Here's to a dry (oh it won't be, but let's pretend!) weekend...

Good Ole Hat Fun
Babies in hats??? Forget about it. The cuteness is unbearable. So when I found this green polka dot hat at Baby Gap there was no doubt that it would end up in my bag.

My Youngest Nephew is One
We did this shoot in their home using both his nursery and the kid's playroom as our on location studio.

The two images above were taken in his playroom. His mom painted adorable frogs and blades of grass on the walls. The blue toned walls in both his playroom and nursery made his blue eyes stand out. No retouching necessary on those baby blues.

Four Month Wellness Checkup
During Kendall's last doctor visit I documented the rituals of the wellness checkup. You'll see that she is the perfect photographer's child. If you have a doctor's visit scheduled, plan to take your camera! It was a spur of the moment decision to grab my camera on the way out the door. I only realized once I downloaded the images how truly priceless these are.

The Almost Forgotten Roman Holiday
This is us in the elevator on our way up to our hotel room in Rome. We were in Rome for one week in September. Of the 700 photos I took this is the first shot I gave my eyes the time to study.
Every couple knows it's hard to get "together" shots when you are traveling. Heck, even when you're not traveling. When you do get them, they're extra special even if they are not particularly flattering. This one is just fun to look at. It's such a classic moment for us. Me with my camera of course and my husband with his wallet open fishing for our room key. He's always a step ahead.

We picked out three other shots to enlarge + frame, but I don't think I'll have time to get to the rest until after the New Year.

A Different Kind of Portrait
Yesterday, I took a little walk through the Lincoln Park Zoo and found this not-so-little guy lounging just as he should on such a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Oh-my-goodness!

My Favorite (& only) Nephew
One of the benefits of my job includes a schedule that allows me to babysit my nephew from time to time. He didn't know it, but we had a little photo session last week during our time together. He's great practice and so adorable I can barely stand it!
